From October 15th until November 26th of 2005 the city of Antwerp will be the setting for ‘Photo Antwerp 2005’, a photo festival initiated by the PhotoMuseum of the Province of Antwerp and in association with leading art galleries, MuHKA, Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerp, municipal and provincial museums and other art initiatives.

This event highlights Antwerp’s extensive and diverse photographic network. At about forty locations all over the city each participant organises an exposition on the basis of their own profile, whether monographic or thematic, without the restriction of a covering theme or watertight precepts. In this way a large diversity of photographic approaches, arising from this variety of convictions and the network’s diversity, can be displayed.

During this event the PhotoMuseum of the Province of Antwerp, in charge of the general organisation and co-ordination of for this project, not only functions as an exhibition space, but also offers a forum for dialogue and discussion. Several workshops, lectures and debates are scheduled, all of these featuring Belgian as well as foreign guests
